At least, it indicates that your case is being actively processing.

Oh ok. I am already waiting for the last 16 months since I applied for I485 @ Texas service center. I am waiting for a medical RFE now. I heard this Brooklyn New York FO is not very encouraging from a processing time point of view.

Online official average processing times for Brooklyn NY is 25 months :(  I see in some cases i485 cases are getting approved within 3 months and for some  they have to wait for so long. There seems to be no consistency.

Close to two weeks back I raised a Service Request with USCIS for delay in processing of my Advanced Parole and the service request number  has "SR" in the beginning and "BNY" in the trailing end. What is "BNY" in the service request ?  Does "BNY" stands for Brooklyn New York ?

No idea about "BNY".

For the official processing time, here is the explanation.

What does this processing time mean?
We generally process cases in the order we receive them. This processing time is based on how long it took us to complete 80% of adjudicated cases over the past six months. Each case is unique, and some cases may take longer than others. Processing times should be used as a reference point, not an absolute measure of how long your case will take to be completed.
